Salsa in Toronto 2016 Now Presented by TD Bank

Multi-Year Commitment to Canada’s Biggest Latino themed dance, music and culture festival includes the “Salsa on St. Clair” free weekend event

(Toronto, June 14, 2016) Toronto will be HOT-HOT-HOT this summer with a bigger and better Salsa in Toronto Festival running from June 30 to July 17. Long-time supporter TD Bank Group (TD) has made a multi-year commitment to the event, which culminates in the popular Salsa on St. Clair Street Festival, now in its 12th year.

The largest Latino-themed cultural celebration in Canada, the TD Salsa in Toronto Festival occurs over a three week period with a series of city wide events that kick off with Triple Latin Grammy winning Cuban Duo “Gente de Zona” concert on June 30th at 8pm and culminate in the 12th Annual Salsa on St. Clair free street festival on July 9th and 10th.

The Salsa on St. Clair festival was conceived and initiated by Telelatino Network in collaboration with the Hillcrest Village BIA in 2005 as a local event centred around the emerging St. Clair West streetscape of small Latino restaurants and businesses. The event has grown into a nationally recognized festival that attracts hundreds of thousands of people from across the region and beyond who love salsa and Latino culture. The TD Salsa in Toronto Festival brings an international calibre of Latin music and non-stop dancing in the streets of St. Clair, garnering attention from international major media such as CNN en Español, Jimmy Kimmel Live and Univision Network’s biggest national shows, Despierta America and El Gordo y la Flaca.
“We are thrilled to expand our participation in Salsa in Toronto as title sponsor for the next several years,” said Scott Mullin, Vice President Community Relations, TD Bank Group. “TD celebrates the vibrancy of Latin culture in Toronto with so many things to experience and enjoy! The Salsa in Toronto Festival captures them all.” “We are extremely proud of how our small Latino celebration has become one of the most important cultural festivals in the country and we are thrilled to continue working with TD Bank Group to grow the influence of Hispanic Canada in the years to come,” added Aldo DiFelice, Canadian Salsa Festivals Project and Telelatino Network Inc. President.

The TD Salsa in Toronto Festival is also generously supported by the City of Toronto, the Province of Ontario and the Hillcrest Village BIA and is produced by the Canadian Salsa Festivals Project, a federally incorporated Not-for-Profit organization.
